Bonjour!

So, you may or may not have surmised, but I fancy myself a bit of a Francophile. I’ve studied it, I’ve been, and on a semi-daily basis I attempt to immerse myself in the culture (fashion, wine, cheese, pain au chocolate, Le Tour de – Allez Cadel!), hell, I’ve even attempted to sing Piaf at Karaoke (badly, i’ll admit – mais je ne regrette rien).

Today, le quatorze Juillet, is Bastille day – the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille fortress-prison and is a celebration of the uprising of the modern nation, and of the reconciliation of all the French inside the constitutional monarchy during the French Revolution.

And, as with all historical and momentous events, it is now a day to eat, drink and make merry.

So à votre santé to all you Frenchies out there and vive le révolution!
